When they reach a certain age, most kids describe their Dad’s job in one word:
“Bor-ing”!
Not so for Birmingham developer Shafiq Samji and his business partner, Noruddin Dharani. Their work at Signature Developments, LLC – building entertainment complexes with bowling alleys, arcades and such – means they’re in the business of family-friendly fun for kids of all ages.
“I have two daughters,” he said. “They do think I’m pretty cool. And they are really popular with their friends at school because you know, ‘Dad owns a trampoline park,’” he said.
Samji is adding to his cool quotient, thanks to an entertainment center under construction in Moody. The 48,000-square-foot complex includes bowling lanes, trampoline park, arcade and other attractions and will serve as the anchor for the city’s entertainment district.
“It’ll be for all the family, Dads, Moms, kids, all the family,” Samji said.
Signature is building similar projects in Hoover and Pelham in suburban Birmingham. The Moody project is on a larger scale, he said.
“The demographics of Moody are perfect for that area,” Samir said. “Population wise, the crowds, young families, all factored into our decision.”
